Mistakes People Make When Treating Acne

Although acne can be treated, you must make sure your doing it properly, follow these rules to get an acne-free life!

Putting themselves under too much stress or emotional tension
Squeezing or picking at the pimples - this should be a last resort.
Working in damp, greasy and oily environments
Specific medications, lotions and chemicals can aggravate acne.

Cleansers that;

Contain harsh surfectants like sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate.
Are in bar form - soap
Containing uneven particles that will scratch/tear skin - walnuts
Contains animal oils (Clog pores)

Toners or astringents that;

Contain drying alcohols - hazel
Contain animal oils (Clog pores)
Contain rice or corn ingredients

Salicylic Acid Products that;

Containing drying alcohols - hazle
A pH higher than 4 - or it simple won’t be effective
Contain rice or corn ingredients

Benzoyl peroxide products that;

Contain skin irritants
Only use ONCE per day
Contain animal oils (Clog pores)

Moisturisers that;

Are in cream form
Contain animal oils (Clog pores)
Contain rice or corn ingredients
Contain skin irritants

Tea tree oil products that;

Contain skin irritants
Have less than a 5% concentration of tea tree oil, or more than a 15% concentration. Too little tea tree oil is likely to be ineffective, and too much may be irritating. You can, however, buy pure tea tree oil and dilute it, so long as you aim for the right concentration.

Don’t tan. Tanning only temporarily masks acne, damaging the skin in the process, which can actually lead to a worsening of acne. Even if tanning did help, it’s not worth the risk of skin cancer, premature aging, cataracts, cellulite, and rosacea associated with unprotected sun exposure.

Squeezing or picking the spot may cause more inflammation and scarring and cause the bacteria to go deeper into your skin.
