Symptoms of Panic Attacks

Symptoms of panic attacks can vary and should always be taken seriously. They are not harmless, and most importantly you should understand that you do not have to suffer from panic attacks. There is plenty of help out there.

Here are the common symptoms of panic attacks, which include the physical and mental side effects:

* sweating
* a shortness of breath
* feeling of adrenaline through your entire body
* racing or pounding heartbeat, chest pain
* stomach problems, feeling nausea
* feeling lightheaded, dizziness or vertigo
* a numbness in your face, hands, feet or mouth
* burning sensations, hot or cold flashes
* trembling and shaking, tingling spine
* feelings of claustrophobia
* smothering sensations
* feeling weak, and muscle spasms
* a frightening realization of reality
* inability to react logically
* racing, irrational, or fearful thoughts
* feeling impending doom
* feeling out of control
* vision some what impaired
* The apparent slowing down or speeding up of time

Although these symptoms of panic attacks are the main ones to look out for, you may experience some different symptoms not found on the list. Also, what you may experience could change with each attack.

Panic attacks can cause major distress and should never be taken lightly. Never allow someone to brush it off and tell you to just “cope” as they obviously have never had panic attacks themselves. It deserves your full attention, but do so positively where possible. Look for solutions rather than problems. There is a lot of information out there you can read and plenty of help available.
